American Health Lawyers Association will be hiring a summer internship to one qualified individual next summer from June through Mid-August, 2012. It is our hope that you will pass this information on to your peers and anyone of interest so that they can apply for this great opportunity. Aside from writing, researching and editing, the law student intern will also attend networking lunches with local health attorneys from small and large firms, solo practitioners, government attorneys, in-house counsel, etc. and attend the AHLA Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL (June 25 – June 27, 2012), a major networking opportunity with health lawyers from around the country while attending select CLE programs and other programs related to the conference.

In principle and in practice, the American Health Lawyers Association values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation within the Association regardless of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. The Association welcomes all members as it leads health law to excellence through education, information, and dialogue.
As part of AHLA's initiative to cultivate more diversity among attorneys practicing health law, the Association is working to provide opportunities for talented law students of diverse backgrounds so that they can learn more about this segment of the legal profession. To this end, AHLA's Advisory Council on Diversity sponsors a Diversity Summer Internship each year. The program provides a first or second-year law student with an eight week internship at AHLA's office in Washington, DC where he/she performs various writing and research duties to support publishing and public interest activities.
If you'll be attending any of the following in-person programs, please make plans to attend a reception hosted by the Advisory Council on Diversity. The receptions are a wonderful way to wrap up the day while meeting new colleagues and catching up with old friends. All are invited to enjoy this special event, where diversity is celebrated and ideas are exchanged to further the Association's commitment to diversity.
