In-Person Programs
AHLA is an approved sponsor for continuing legal education and continuing professional education credits in most states. We apply for other types of professional education credits when appropriate.
Most programs include a workshop on legal ethics to help attendees fulfill their state requirements.
Sessions are tailored as introductory, intermediate or advanced to offer a selection, which will meet an attendee's level of expertise. For information on how many credits a specific program offers, please check the individual program web site.
Legal credits are calculated based on a sixty or fifty-minute hour depending on the state(s) in which an individual is licensed. Professional/Accounting credits are calculated based on a fifty-minute hour.

American Health Lawyers Association is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be addressed to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, 150 Fourth Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37219-2417. Website: www.nasba.org. |
All of AHLA's in-person programs are considered updates on the topic area being addressed, with the exceptions of the Fundamentals of Health Law program, which is basic, and the Masters program, which is advanced. While there are no pre-requisites or advanced preparations required to attend AHLA's in-person programs, those seeking accounting credits should be familiar with the basic concepts of law associated with the topic of the program in order to obtain the full educational benefit.
Participants wishing to obtain CPE credits for their attendance, must sign in and out of each session they attend in order to comply with the NASBA certification procedures.
Attendees are required to complete a continuing education request form in order to obtain a Certificate of Completion.
Online CLE Video
AHLA, in partnership with Classroom 24/7, has captured some of the audio, video, and textual content from the following three programs:
Legal Issues Affecting Academic Medical Centers and other Teaching Institutions, Long Term Care and the Law, and the Physicians and Hospital Law Institutes. 'Attend' any of the sessions listed here, by watching the speakers, following the synchronized PowerPoint presentations, and downloading and reading the written materials from these in-person programs and earn CLEs.
Here is how it works:
- Purchase the individual session or full collection of recorded sessions for a particular program.
- Watch and listen to the speaker.
- Review the written materials at your own pace and in the convenience of your home or office.
- Print out a certificate of completion that will allow you to apply for CLE credits where applicable. *
* Not all states accept self-study products for CLE credits.
* AHLA will provide assistance in applying for CLE course approval and accreditation in states where this is required.

Webinars
We do not apply in advance for CLE credits for our webinars. If you would like to obtain CLE credits for a webinar, you must apply to the state bar yourself. Once you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email. Click on the link provided in the confirmation email and you will be provided with the information needed to apply for the CLE credits.
Please note that some state bars will not approve webinars for CLE credits. These states include: IN, KS, OH.
Click here to get specific information for each state's application process. You will need to check with your state as to whether they require you to be the registrant or an attendee of the webinars.
