AHLA Members

The American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field with more than 10,000 members. Our membership is diverse not only in background but in their practice areas and settings, including in-house counsel, attorneys working in law firms, solo practitioners, health professionals, government attorneys, academicians, paralegals and students.

We provide resources to address the issues facing members who practice in law firms, government, in-house settings and academia and who represent the entire spectrum of the health industry: physicians, hospitals and health systems, health maintenance organizations, health insurers, life sciences, managed care companies, nursing facilities, home care providers, and consumers.

Members can also join one of 16 Practice Groups and an array of Affinity Groups and Task Forces that are composed of volunteer members who share a similar work setting or interest in specific areas of health law and who wish to increase their level of expertise in and knowledge of health law issues, grow professionally, gain valuable leadership experience, and network with other health lawyers from across the country.

Read more about the different levels and types of membership as well as the types of benefits members receive, or download our Membership Guide, detailing the many benefits of AHLA membership.

Commitment to Diversity

In principle and in practice, the American Health Lawyers Association values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation within the Association, regardless of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. The Association welcomes all members as it leads health law to excellence through education, information and dialogue. For more information about our Diversity initiatives and events, visit our Diversity page.

Volunteer Opportunities

AHLA encourages members to get involved in a variety of ways, including writing, speaking at programs, and serving on committees, task forces, and Practice Group leadership.
