Call for AuthorsWant to share your experiences and expertise, collaborate with other AHLA members on exciting new projects, get your name in print, and enhance your professional credentials? All you have to do is volunteer to contribute to one or several of the titles in development. Note that we update this page monthly, so if you don't see a topic of interest, check back regularly for new authorship opportunities.
AHLA is looking for short articles for several of its member publications, including the Health Lawyers Weekly and AHLA Connections magazine. Contact Bianca Bishop to discuss any of the following topics:
- Drug Shortages
- Conscience Rights for Healthcare Professionals
- "Meaningful Use" (Stage 1 and 2)
- State Health Insurance Law Exchanges. We are looking for articles about these statutes in the 11 states that have enacted HIE legislation (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia).
- Diversity in Health Law. Issues for possible articles include Clinical Trial Participation, Genetic Background Diagnostic Issues, Treatment of Illegal Immigrants, and Access to Health Care Services.
- Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) Medicaid Models

Call for 2012-2013 Young Professional Council
The American Health Lawyers Association is seeking young professional members who are aged 35 or younger to serve on the Young Professionals Council. The members of the Young Professionals Council plan and implement networking events and brown bag webinars for AHLA young professional members; encourage active participation in and contribute to the Association’s activities and publishing endeavors; help to promote involvement by young professionals within the Practice Groups; offer guidance related to recruitment and retention of young professional members; and identify ways in which AHLA can measure its success in these efforts. AHLA members who are interested in serving as leaders on the Young Professionals Council would help the group develop and achieve its goals for the upcoming 2012-2013 year.

AHLA Mentoring Program
AHLA's Mentoring Program is for both mentors, looking to share their considerable professional expertise and experience and for mentees, who may be new to health law, new to the legal profession, or established health lawyers and professionals looking to establish a mentor relationship with a colleague.
