In 1992, the AHLA developed the first national roster of arbitrators, mediators, and  hearing officers  with health law expertise.  It remains the only national service dedicated exclusively to resolving disputes  in the health care industry.

The Dispute Resolution Service is governed by the Dispute Resolution Service Council.  Members of the Council are appointed by the President of the AHLA Board of Directors.
